Karl joined the Envirolab Group as CEO in May 2023 bringing with him over 20 years of senior executive experience including roles as Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary for several Australian publicly listed companies, as well as a high-profile digital marketplace business during periods of significant growth and success.
In addition to his extensive experience in vegetation management, road transport, automotive, and tech industries, Karl has a background in family-owned businesses, where he gained valuable expertise. He is committed to a values-led approach to business and believes in developing people around him to drive success.
Karl has completed his MBA, Australian Institute of Company Directors course, bachelor's degree, and CA program and is a strong advocate for personal development and challenging individuals to reach their full potential. He has lived in Byron Bay and Canberra, and currently resides in Newtown with his wife Emma, two children, and two dogs - Henson the Cavoodle and Milo the Dachshund.
Karl is an avid rugby league fan and sits on the board of directors for the Newtown Jets. Recently, he was also appointed to the board of the Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. Despite being new to the science sector, Karl is a great listener and fast learner, having achieved much success across industries he was unfamiliar with prior to joining them. Karl's entrepreneurial spirit is evident through his ownership of a successful kiosk business in Byron Bay with his partner, after owning a surf and streetwear business for 18 years.
